Style your home for summer

December 8, 2016

Summer has officially started which gets us thinking about re-styling your homes for the warmer weather. A change of season is the perfect time to update your home. Small and simple changes CAN make a big difference.

Here are a few tips from Sojo that may give you an inspiration or motivation to start your little summer project.

In general, adding pops of color and fresh touches to your home is a simple way to give your interior a new – summer mood.

The easiest and probably the most cost-effective way to add colour is to change your accessories. Dark and muted tones are perfect for winter, but summer calls for light and airy colours. You can experiment with bolder and brighter colours and have some fun adding a new energy to your home.

Changing scatter cushions on your sofa and chairs in another cost-effective ways to transform a living room or bedroom.

Introduce lighter and brighter textures, patterns and colours. Store your knitted, fur and textural cushions, which are perfect for snuggling up with in winter, and replace them with a lighter alternative, fresh shades of watery blues, palmy greens and warm yellow. Have fun with summer themed cushion covers like on the image below and go for a bright pattern and fun graphic prints.

If you are not a fan of bright and bold and like more elegant and sophisticated look, there are so many options and fabrics available in neutral colours for you to choose from. You can bring interest in with patterns and combinations.

Think of refreshing your bedding with a new duvet to brighten up your bedroom.

Or just change cushions to add some colour and fun patterns.

If your budget allows, you could also consider changing the art. There is a lot of art in shops at the moment with a tropical theme that is on trend and will bring summer vibes in to your home.

Reconfigure your furniture layout (if your space allows) by facing seating pieces toward the light, your sea view or outdoor setting.

Fresh flowers are a quick and simple way to connect your indoor space with the outdoors. Add fresh flowers to your coffee table, dining table or console.

Summer is time of the year when we can finally enjoy our outdoor spaces most of the season. So making these spaces comfortable and nice should definitely be on your list.

Update your deck, table or outdoor chairs or just add new cushions on your outdoor furniture and place an outdoor rug to merge the outdoors and indoors, from block colouring to stripes or geometric patterns.

Accessorize your outdoor dining table or coffee table with a vase and fresh flowers, lantern or a candle. Maybe a gorgeous tray with a pot plant and a candle.

Add a throw to your outdoor sofa to soften the look and have it ready for cooler nights.

Happy styling!
