The brief was design the spaces from apartments to the large living areas, so that the families feel like its home away from home!.
I had a complete blank canvas and had to chose everything from flooring to kitchen and bathroom finishes, all window treatments and all furnishings which I had custom made.
This allowed me to really personalise the spaces and make them special for all the beautiful families that come here and make this place home whether its for one night or many months, enabling out of town families, to stay together as they go through a huge journey in their lives.
The apartments can comfortably sleep 6 and also bring in roller beds where necessary for the extra family members that come including grandparents and extended family.
Bringing in some colour was important to certain areas without it been too much, kids love colour so I started with giving each studio and apartment a unique colour for the front door, which carried through to there space as you can see in the images provided. From here I took that colour and added splashes on the furnishings through fabric and paint, keeping it unique and a little playful, but at the same time practical.
The living areas came together with practical leather sofas and colourful chairs, then we added scatter cushions, rugs, furniture and accessories for finishing touches.
My favourite piece in this room is the art on the wall by famous artist #AndrewjSteel whom so so generously donated his time and incredible talent to brighten up this wall with a unique commissioned piece of art, specially designed for the kids and families whom stay here, #Resene paint also donated the paint for this stunning piece of art!
My favourite room has to be the consultation room, the rug just brings it to life and the colour combo its fresh and fun!
I look forward to working on the next stage with Ronald McDonald House.
